Insurance/health care

Foreign students are advised to take out medical insurance in the Russian Federation which includes all medical aid and services, except chronic diseases and orthodontics. State scholarship students receive a significant premium reduction.

Counselling and guidance services

There is no central advisory service for students registered at Russian higher education institutions. However, the International Department or Student Bureau founded at each institution will provide students with the information they require. Student counsellors are available to provide advice on personal problems. Each higher education institution also has academic advisors.

Students who wish to study in the Russian Federation can obtain information and advice from the local Russian embassy or from the Ministry for General and Professional Education (Department for Specialist Training for Foreign Countries).

Practically all Russian higher education institutions have halls of residence available for students. Indeed, institutions have a statutory obligation to provide students with places in such halls.
